Can U relate?
The truth is can you people relate?
Money gone, rent late
And so many people with their hands out
They truly know “what a thug’s about
Those people you owe can mess up your money
Make sure you can’t get a house for your honey
Cause your “credit is bad”
Can you relate?
To being homeless in every state
Have you ever been followed around a store?
For so many minutes, you don’t wanna shop there anymore
Have you ever been greeted by everyone once you walk through the door
If your answer is no, then you can’t relate
You don’t understand the pain or hear the cries
You can’t relate, cause you never seen hunger pain in a kids eyes
Never seen a sad kid in the hood
Christmas is cartons; a present might be too good
Have you ever been so poor; you went two days, no eating
Stomach rumbles keep you from sleeping
A thanksgiving meal, you’re dreaming
Until you wake up to a harsh reality
And you say to yourself, “this ain’t for me”
Walking through your house scratching your head
Found peanut butter, no jelly, and one slice of bread
Dad passed out, mom out cold
Baby got on a pamper 2 days old
Can you relate?
Have you ever been to dam hungry to speak?
Can open your eyes cause you too weak
No health insurance, no one cares
Go to a hospital, they don’t touch you cause of their fears
They fear you as a person, no matter how sick
Cause you been waiting so long, the second hand backwards tick
And the people in the waiting room are gone now
A whole new set is in
So you been lapped, it’s the good part of town
They think you living in sin
Cause you wear jeans so baggy, two people can fit in
They just don’t know you use to be able to fit
But lack of food, now you skinny, they fat you use to miss it
Out of luck you stay realistic
Cause little do they know you’re gifted
In the mental, but have you ever loved the race they hate
Then the truth is you can’t really relate.
